Sexual Harassment Policy:

POLICY

Unwelcomed sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature, when submission or rejection of such conduct is used as the basis for employment decisions, or when the conduct has the purpose or effect of creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.

 

PROCEDURE

  1. The city requires all officials and employees to attend a one-hour officially sanctioned ethics training per year, as well as follow the prohibitions and requirements under the Louisianan Code of Government Ethics (Ethics Code).

  2. The Ward 4 Marshal has a responsibility to report possible Ethics Code violations to the Louisiana Board of Ethics, pursuant to R.S. 42:1161(A). The Marshal is also required to cooperate in connection with any investigation or hearing which is conducted by the Ethics Board.

  3. Complaints received from the public and from within the Ward 4 Marshal’s Office should be taken seriously and investigated by the Marshal and the Human Resources Department of City of Sulphur. The investigative procedures should be fair and thorough, and any corrective action taken should be in accordance with this policy.

  4. Officials and employees should attest through signature verification that he or she has read and agrees to comply with the Ward 4 Marshal’s Office’s ethics policies.

  5. The Marshal and Office Manager shall compile an annual report by February first of each year containing information from the previous calendar year regarding the agency’s compliance of :

 

  • The number and percentage of public servants in the agency who have completed the training requirements.

  • The number of sexual harassment complaints received by the agency.

  • The number of complaints which resulted in a finding that sexual harassment occurred.

  • The number of complaints in which the finding of sexual harassment resulted in discipline or corrective action.

  • The amount of time it took to resolve each complaint.

 

These reports shall be public record and available to the public in the manner provided by public records law.
